Swordpoint Studios

What is Swordpoint Studios?

Role:

Swordpoint Studios is a company that offers revolutionary gaming tools that help streamline the productivity of artists and developers.

This was a one-month project that I worked on along with another designer

Scope:

Tools:

There is a high user drop-off rate from the homepage and not a lot of users are accessing the product pages.

The Problem

The Goal

Create an eye-catching & accesible design for Swordpoint Studios that attracts users and highlights the product and its information, encouraging users to purchase or download.

Design Process Swordpoint Studios.jpg

To gain an understanding of the current site usability the design team conducted a site audit. In addition, to analyze solutions from competitors the design team was asked by the client to deliver a competitive analysis.

Competitive Analysis

Create an eye-catching & accesible design for Swordpoint Studios that attracts users and highlights the product and its information, encouraging users to purchase or download.

Key Findings

Based on the research done from competing websites, we concluded to focus on three categories that can impact the users most:

1. Navigation

  • Clear and navigable

  • Includes the homepage, product page and about page

2. Homepage / Landing page

  • Introduces the company and what they offer

  • Promotes the product they sell with necessary information

  • Contains call to action

3. Product page

  • Accessible option for user conversion

  • Utilizing images and icons to enhance visual design

Site Audit

  • Goal: Establish an understanding of the current site structure and content. Determine usability issues within the current site.

  • Method: My partner Rachel created a site map, user flow, and usability report for the current site.

Key Findings

  1. Issue 1: Users have to navigate between multiple pages to read product information and access the download call to actions.

  2. Issue 2: The text copy doesn’t clearly highlight the benefits of the products.

  3. Issue 3: The site is not visually engaging to the user.

Revised Site Map

Based on our competitor research and initial site audit we modified the site navigation to consist of:

  • The home page

  • Two product pages

  • About page

Regardless of the page a user starts on they have a description of the products and the option to download.

Low Fidelity Wireframes

  • We knew that some users were confused by the home page based on the google analytic dropoff rate.

  • Our focus was on presenting key product information and giving users the opportunity to download and learn more.

  • We organized elements in an intuitive and clear-cut way to improve the visual appearance of the site.

What was improved?

  1. Content information - separated into 3 sections that followed an organized pattern for users to easily follow.

  2. Copy Language - Headers engaged users and concisely listed product purposes.

  3. Easy Conversion - Download options are given to users in multiple pages.

Overall user experience was improved by focusing on the user flow to conversion and presenting key information clearly and within the brand theme.

Mood board

In developing the design of the site, we wanted to capture the brand identity. We used a mood board to convey to the client how their branding will come across to consumers and visually validate their products.

High Fidelity Wireframes

After presenting the low fidelity wireframes we implemented the feedback that we received and used it along with the moodboard to create the high fidelity wireframes.

The high fidelity wireframes were then presented and approved by the CEO !

Conclusion

The Final design presentation was approved!

Currently, the website itself is still in the process of being redesigned. When the website is up and finished then we will be able to see the new design, and after a few months see how successful the new design will be with the conversion rate of incoming users.

Learnings and Retrospect

Since this is my first internship in the world of UXUI Design, I was able to learn a lot of new things and experience how the work culture is like in the real world.

A few things that stood out to me in this experience is being able to communicate well that is involved in the project, including my partner, and the stakeholders. Another thing that I also learned was to be organized with the deliverables, especially when presenting it. We don’t want to waste time looking for files, so always be prepared and prepare a powerpoint where all your deliverables can be located!

This experience is only the first of many, I will continue to learn and look forward to more opportunities in the future.
